£295
Get your timing belt replaced in a timely manner – Land Rover’s recommendation is every 72,000 miles, Rover / MG recommendation is every 60,000 miles or every 6 years, whichever is sooner.
What is included in your Timing Belt & Water Pump Replacement?
The timing belt (cam belt) controls the timing of your engine’s valves.
Your timing belt replacement includes the fitting of a full timing belt kit – the timing belt and tensioner.
Also included is the fitting of a new water pump.
Since we specialise in these engines who better to ensure that your timing belt is timed up perfectly? We have the specialist equipment and knowledge for the job.
Where are you?
We are based in Norfolk, postcode IP26 4RH.
If you don’t have a lift home after dropping your car with us, and are looking to use public transport, we can drop you / pick you up at the railway station – our closest is Brandon, however if you are coming through London there is a direct train line from Downham Market which is not too far either. If Thetford is more convenient for you this is also possible.
We are rather in the middle of nowhere, but if you do need to wait for your car there are some pleasant walks in the area.
How long will it take?
To replace your timing belt generally takes less than three hours.

- Paypal
- Cheques – provided they clear before delivery or collection

hi
i am based in australia, i have a 98 freelander and the head gasket just went. land rover want $2000+ to fix it which is prohibitive and not possible.
i have plenty of mechanicl experience, but was wondering if there was anything special or tricky about replacing the gasket myself.
any advice would be appreciated.
thanks
brad
Hi Brad,
I assume given the year of your Freelander and the problem you have with it that it is a 1.8 litre petrol model. If you have plenty of mechanical experience then there is no particularly tricky issues in dealing with this models head gasket. Make sure you get the head skimmed and pressure tested at a machine shop and ensure that you use the modified multi layer head gasket and not the single layer one (otherwise you will find yourself with the same problem again within another 70,000 miles). Also ensure that you use an engine flush and a coolant flush on the system to get rid of any residues and check there are no blockages. Never use any sealing additives in these engine, such a K-seal, they cause havoc!
If you have any issues as you are replacing the head gasket just get in touch and we will do our best to help.
All the best,
Sue

Hi Valdas,
Yes, it is true. The bolts are stretch bolts and hence should not be reused.
All the best,

HI IM STUGLING WITH MY 1.8.
CANT SNAP HOW THE TIMING MARKS ON THE CAMS SEPOSE TO BE
Hi Gawie,
Apologies for the delay in responding.
When facing the engine from the drivers side the IN, marked on the cam shaft pulley on the left hand side, should face the EXHAUST, marked on the cam shaft pulley on the right hand side.
Using the mark on the back plastic cover, mounted on the head cylinder, align the crank shaft pulleys to the mark.
For more detailed help the Haynes manual can give you steps and diagrams (http://www.freelanderspecialist.com/freelander-service/freelander-1-service-and-repair-manuals)
